Waverazor Display Wishlist V.1.0

1) The 1032 X 762 interface is WAY too small on my 1920 X 1080 27" monitor. PLEASE make the interface resizeable. I need to max this thing out to see it well. I brought the resolution down to 1280 X 720 to make it almost fill the screen. Big improvement. Now, if I could just make that happen at full res, I'd be satisfied with the interface size.

2) The italic digital font is cute but darned near illegible. Need access to system fonts and font sizing for the interface. Or at least lock it down to some readable plain Jane vanilla Helvetica as an option. At the very, very least, allow resizing the font. The current font is only 8 pixels high!!!

3) Red text on a black background compounds the problem.
ab1817 (RGB 171,24,23) red over 0a0003 (RGB 10,0,3) near black gives you the HORRIBLE contrast ratio of 2.83:1 which UTTERLY fails WCAG 2.0 contrast ratio guidelines.

Proper black text on white background has a contrast ratio of 21:1 by comparison.

WCAG 2.0 International Web Usability Standard level AA REQUIRES a CONTRAST RATIO of 4.5:1 for NORMAL TEXT and 3:1 for LARGE TEXT. 2.83:1 contrast ratio for normal text in a minuscule font with poor legibility FAILS.

The blue 006eb3 text would pass WCAG AA large text ONLY and only IF you resized it from 8 pixels tall to 24 pixels tall.

Level AAA WCAG requires a contrast ratio of 7:1 for normal text and 4.5:1 for large text. Large text is defined as 14 point (typically 18.66px) and bold or larger, or 18 point (typically 24px) or larger.

The combination of a tiny cute hard to read font with poor legibility on an unresizeable screen with horrible contrast ratio colors SERIOUSLY hurts my ability to use and enjoy this otherwise AWESOME synth!

And this needs fixing quick cause there's people out there with WAY worse eyes than mine.

Click on the gear icon, to the immediate left of the arpeggiator and a window will pop up.  Scroll down to 'Theme' and pick your poison.  That should be a healthy start for your eyes.

Not really. Those themes are all hideous. Brighty has a little better contrast, but the font is still in red and is tiny with poor legibility, and the window is still too small. Pick your poison is the right way to say it. All those themes are recipes for eyestrain.

Yeah, I think when the full-blown parameter editor version is released, it will probably have too many options (if that's possible)!

Hi @benfury!  Many thanks to you and @synapticgroove for bringing up the preferences!  It's on our list to update that page and change it's capabilities...

We got some feedback early on that colorblind people wouldn't be able to see most of the GUI so we quickly added the themes.  But I think what we will do is add hue and brightness controls for everything that's red and everything that's blue.  (And then modulate them with LFOs!  J/K.)  Anyway, that's already up on our development tracker.

It shouldn't be too difficult to add a plain font.  We'll put that on the list.

And making the GUI resizable should be possible.  Rob designed our vector-based graphics system to support this capability.  It just needs to be coded.  I say, "It just needs to be coded" because I'm not the one doing it...  ;)

At any rate, I'll make sure these points are captured in the queue.  Thanks again for bringing them up.  We always want to know what you guys need so we can better prioritize our development goals.

Cheers,

T

@Taiho "(and then modulate them with LFOSs! J/K.)"

LOL!  Yep, it definitely needs a spectral synthesis element added to it... ;)

I personally dig the hell out of the native color scheme, but then again I listen to Can, Radiohead and Live At Pompeii, so go figure! =)
I don't know what liking Can has to do with UI color choices, SG. I like Magma. You'd think I'd adore this color scheme in that case, eh? LOL
So very true! LOL
