How do I use the External Audio Input in Miniraze?

+1 vote
Miniraze allows you to run an external audio source through the synthesizer voice path.  It can route audio from a track to appear in the oscillator for slicing, or the audio can appear directly in the Mixer section, parallel to the oscillators feeding into the filter section.  The direct External Input Level in the Mixer section has a menu that allows you to select between audio from the track (Audio In), or from the host application's side-chain bus.  The source you select here also determines the external input source that's available in the oscillators.

Host applications seem to handle audio routing in different ways, placing different conditions on effects plugins (which access audio from tracks) and instrument plugins (which also need to receive MIDI in order to play).  We are collecting the different ways to set up your External Audio Input here, as a resource for the Miniraze community.  Feel free to add your discoveries to our list of setup instructions!

All the best,

In Ableton Live 10, I instantiate Miniraze on a MIDI Track in order to enable MIDI input from my controller keyboard.  Then, in the Audio Track that I want to effect, I select the Miniraze MIDI Track under the "Audio To" drop down menu.

The audio routing will default to Miniraze's main external input, but you can change it to Miniraze's side-chain input in the secondary "Audio To" drop down menu if you like.

Finally, in Miniraze itself, make sure that you have selected the External Audio Input somewhere in your voice path (Oscillator Waves, or Mixer level), and then play some notes to allow the envelopes to open up and allow the audio input signal to pass through.

In Logic Pro X, I instantiate Miniraze on an Instrument Track in order to enable MIDI input from my controller keyboard.  Then, in Miniraze's plugin window, I select the audio track I want to effect in the "Side-Chain" drop down menu.

Since Logic's "Side-Chain" input is being used to route to Miniraze's external audio input, you need to make sure to select Sidechain as your audio input in Miniraze, since the Audio In selection cannot be routed to from Logic while still receiving MIDI.  If anyone knows a better way of doing this, please let us know.
